OLYMPIA – The use of toll revenue from the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge will be the focus of a public input meeting hosted by the Washington State Transportation Commission. Members of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Citizen Advisory Committee will also be in attendance. The meeting will be held on Tuesday October 9 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Gig Harbor City Council Chambers, 3510 Grandview Street, in Gig Harbor.

The Commission is required by law to set tolls for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge at a level adequate to pay back the bonds issued for the construction, maintenance and operations of the bridge. The Washington State Department of Transportation began collecting a $3 cash toll and $1.75 electronic toll to cross the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge on July 16.

During the public input meeting, WSDOT staff will present an overview of expenditures that are paid for with toll revenue. The public will be given an opportunity to comment on the information presented as well as share their concerns or issues with the current use of toll revenue.

The Transportation Commission will report their findings to the Governor and the Legislature and make recommendations based on comments received during this public meeting and advisement from the Citizen Advisory Committee.
